Clinical Curriculum

The main emphasis of year 3 and 4 are on clinical bedside teaching and tutoring in the affiliated teaching departments of hospitals, outpatient clinics, and primary care clinics. Students interact with patients, participate in clinical rounds and the decision-making process, acquire the skills of history-taking and physical diagnosis and are exposed to the subspecialties and the ancillary diagnostic procedures carried out in laboratories and imaging facilities. During year 3 students can choose to work in any specialty of their choosing. Students will work directly with a physician in the chosen field shadowing the physician in his or her daily activities. The purpose of the course is to provide students an in-depth understanding of what daily practice is actually like in a particular specialty. In year 4 students prepare for Step 2 and either the NRMP or to enter the Israeli stag system. For U.S. loan recipients, you can apply through VSLO for a total of 8 weeks of rotations within the U.S. The sub-internal, sub-surgical and mini-stag rotations must be taken in a Technion affiliated hospital.
